At the end of this course, the students;

Explain the political developments in the post-Atatürk era.
Analyze the periods of military interventions in Türkiye.
Identify the major ideologies that emerged worldwide.
Explain the changing meaning of politics, political factions, and the transformations that took place in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.

Course Description

This course features content that examines the political, social, and economic developments from the late Ottoman period to the present day. Within the scope of the course, the establishment of the Republic, the reforms, the transition to a multi-party system, and Turkey's foreign policy processes are analyzed. The primary objective is to provide students with the competence to evaluate historical events that have shaped modern Turkey from an objective perspective.

7^th Week	Türkiye in the 1970s; the 1971 Military Intervention.
8^th Week	Midterm Examination.
9^th Week	Türkiye in the 1980s; the 1980 Military Intervention.
10^th Week	Türkiye in the 1990s and the February 28, 1997 Military Intervention.
11^th Week	Türkiye in the 2000s.
12^th Week	Coups in Turkish History.
13^th Week	The Armenian Question.
