Course Description

The necessity of preserving historical buildings and their spatial features, the documentation, analysis and evaluation methods will be examined in detail and as the main objective of the course, conservation theories within the framework of the concept of cultural assets will be explained to the students. Legislative issues and law regarding historical buildings in our country will also be examined in the course. The documentation, survey measurement and drawing will be taught, and the students will be able to detect structural and material deterioration problems and spatial or element scale changes in buildings.

1^st Week	Introduction to analysis of an old building for restoration and preservation for its new function as museum
2^nd Week	Theoretical basis of conservation and refunctioning
3^rd Week	Ethical values and criteria for reuse of an old building, how to prepare restitution project
4^th Week	Space and Function Relation
5^th Week	Ensuring modern comfort and health conditions while conserving preserving an old building for new function
6^th Week	Furnishing and decoration of the museum space after preservation
7^th Week	Project Sketch Presentation for the Jury
8^th Week	Project Presentation and Exhibition
9^th Week	Details of the exhibition design of the project
10^th Week	Identification of the re-functionalized structures with the designers to be examined as a research subject.
11^th Week	General analysis of the restored museum building and qualitative analysis of new approaches, general evaluation and conclusion of the research project
12^th Week	Project presentation and presentation, 1st Group
13^th Week	Project presentation and presentation, 2.Group
14^th Week	Project feedback and creating a survey
